As the name implies, Fox & Hounds Ltd. is not your run of the mill pet products company. “In my line of work, dogs are my palette—and the collars and leads we create are the pieces of artwork that we adorn on them.” The creator and artist behind this company’s beautiful products is Robin Kershner.

Kershner, Founder and CEO of Fox & Hounds Ltd., remembers when the idea for her now successful company was born. "It was during the holiday season of 1995 and I scoured pet stores and shopping centers for attractive, unique collars to adorn my Dalmatians, Lucy and Zach.” Much to her dismay and frustration, she was unable to find a collar with the perfect fusion of style and high quality leather. Then, Robin recalls, “The light bulb went off!”


And it must have been shining bright, because today Fox & Hounds Ltd. celebrates its tenth anniversary! From a start up company with four collar styles to a multi-million dollar business with five product collections and accessories for both dogs and cats, Robin is proud of her company’s success. Based in Alexandria, VA with more than 30,000 square feet of office and warehouse space, and 20 staff members, the company distributes its products to retail stores all across the U.S. and to boutiques around the world. The company has also been featured in a number of prominent publications including Dog Fancy, New York Magazine, Town & Country, and Teen, and it has even appeared on The Today Show and Access Hollywood.

With so much buzz in the air as her company continues to grow, Robin finds her center and focus in the same four-legged love that motivates her work. Dogs are not only the artistic palette for Robin, but a daily inspiration that she and her employees bring to the office with them. “My employees are allowed to bring their dogs to the office. No matter how hard the day might be, their presence always reminds us just why we are there. They help keep us grounded and provide a sense of peace in an otherwise chaotic day.” Robin’s inspirations are her two Dalmatians. Zach is especially prominent for her as he lost one of his front legs in a car accident shortly after she brought him home. His perseverance has taught Robin “that you can overcome any challenge in life.”






She has learned the lesson well and the success of her company is proof that “if you build it, they will come.” The five collections featured in their newest catalog are a testament to Robin’s endless desire to create high quality merchandise for all discerning lifestyles. The Town and Country Collection showcases rich but simple designs for those who prefer a stroll through the park or an afternoon tea. The Hunt Club Collection offers sturdy but stylish collars and leads for the more outdoorsy types who appreciate sporting in Coach, Polo, Latigo, and Suede collars and leads. There is even a line for feline lovers to adorn their precious and sometimes picky pets that includes jeweled, ribboned, and glittered collars. The Crown Jewel Collection features tiaras, glitter collars, and for the most discriminating palate—Swarovski crystal and collars.
